This field of Queen Anne’s Lace was just beside the studio where I spent almost two months with master painter Israel Hershberg, of the Jerusalem Studio School. It was on via Terrano, close to Villa Bianca where Corot painted his famous views of Civita Castellana, in Lazio. I did this small and loose painting standing at the gate of the studio in temperatures close to 40ºC. It was as much as I could manage in the heat. And it didn't help that the breeze toppled my palette and French easel on to the dusty ground.
